八代市役所には令和元年8月から海外出身の国際交流員（Coordinator for International Relations）を配置しています。これまで通訳、翻訳、国際交流イベント、やつしろプレスへの連載、エフエム八代出演などの仕事に携わってきました。今回よりこのコラムページを担当し、CIRから見た八代市のことや、出身国アメリカのこと、日本で生活してみて驚いたこと、気付いたこと、嬉しかったことなどを紹介していきます。
Hello, everyone, my name is Josephine Dennis. I’m from Richmond, Virginia, in the USA. I have been working at Yatsushiro City Hall’s International Relations Division since August 2019. Over the past three and a half years, many events have been cancelled or postponed, and I have lost out on opportunities to meet the people of Yatsushiro. While I have made appearances on the radio or in other publications, sharing my thoughts on cultural differences between Japan and the USA, I’d like to use this page to do so as well. Hope you enjoy！
